How referrals and eligibility work
DVA community nursing is usually arranged by referral — most often from a GP, a hospital discharge planner or a treating specialist. Families and veterans are also welcome to contact us directly and we will help work out the next step.
- A referral from your GP, hospital or specialist is the usual starting point.
- We can talk through the in-home nursing and personal care we provide before anything is arranged.
- We coordinate with your treating team so care starts without gaps.
DVA community nursing is a separate Australian Government program, and eligibility for DVA-funded community nursing is determined by the Department of Veterans’ Affairs — that decision is made by DVA, not by any provider.
